Hello, Nacho Sierra here!
The game designer, not the dog whisperer
I'm Game Designer and software developer with knowledge in several fields of game development. I'm always passionate about learning something new, and I've been into way too many things that involve using a computer, but for the last few years I've focused my creative efforts on game making.
2017 - 2020
Higher Technician of Cross-Platform software development
CIFP CÉSAR MANRIQUE
I decided to study software programming as a gateway to game development, which also gave me the opportunity to broaden my understanding of computer science..
After I ended my Higher Technician studies, I was accepted in Lean Mind as an intern and ended up being part of their apprentice community for a year. In my time there, I worked on Huella Positiva and an educational game for Laborsord.
2020 - 2023
HND of Videogame Design and Development
Although I love programming, I wanted to take it a step further and learn as much as I could about the different areas of a game development. Creanavarra was a perfect choice for this, as they cover a bit of all of them.
Java Spring Boot Developer
Huella positiva is an open source project guided by agile methodologies aimed to bring together NGOs and volunteers to speed up the recruitment process.
My job was to implement back-end features requested by the PO and, at the end of my time on the project, I was also in charge of reporting back the development status and issues.
Game Designer & Godot programmer
LABORSORD FOR MINISTRY OF EDUCATION OF CANARY ISLANDS
Quidala is an educational multiplayer game about pet care for elementary and high school students.
My role here was to design and implement all the systems required for the game, including the UI, network and so on, hand in hand with a partner.
2020 - 2021 (on hold)
Game Designer & Graphic Designer
PRAY FOR THE OLD ONES TEAM
Pray for the Old Ones is a adventure board game based on H.P. Lovecraft mythos focusing on player versus player combat.
My duties on this project range from graphic design and mechanic design and balancing, to managing the team and helping them in any way I can to make their work easier.
I was commissioned to recreate iconic buildings of Canarian architecture for a mobile 3D visualizer app.
My task in this commission was to redesign Laborsord's website, following an underlying idea The page was to be viewed entirely without scrolling. In addition, accessibility was a very important factor in this work.
GAMES I HAVE MADE
WHAT I USE
Due to the nature of my previous projects, Unreal Engine is the engine I have used the most, being followed by Godot.
I have been Notion user almost since its launch. I have managed several game developments through this software.
From hobby editing to asset production, Photoshop is a tool that has accompanied me over the years.
Besides its common use, I find Maya useful for designing complex 3D puzzles.
